In 2015 the writing group to which I belong presented a session at the Newcastle Writers Festival: How to take your writing from hobby to publication.
The session was very well-attended and, by all accounts, well-received and we were thrilled. Since then, and after functioning without a name for several years, we have finally decided to call our group the Hunter Story Creators.
And the Hunter Story Creators (HSC) are presenting at the 2016 Writers Festival, although you won’t find our session under our name. The title of our session is Make Your Writing Pop. Hints, techniques, strategies, elements, devices, and other practical advice on how to ensure your writing stands out from the crowd will be shared between 3.00 and 4.00 pm on Sunday 3 April.
As this budding writer has discovered, the process of preparing for the session is a wonderful portal to learning for the presenters themselves. There’s nothing like researching a topic to expand your knowledge, deepen your understanding and provide new insights.
I think I can safely speak for all the HSCs when I say we are excited to once again be involved in such a prestigious Writers Festival and we look forward to meeting many fellow-writers over the weekend of 1 – 3 April 2016.

I am so looking forward to your Hunter Story Creators group presentation on Friday 1st April at the Newcastle Writers Festival this year Dianna. I think it always great to hear from fellow writers and what they have learned as that’s the advice that is often the most relative to where I am at.with my writing.
Thanks, Marg – fingers crossed the presentation will prove useful in some way to all those who attend.
Fantastic Di! I hope to be able to be there…. Xoxo

Hi Charmian – I will absolutely love it if you are able to be there. It should be a lighthearted and fun session that will provide plenty of ‘tricks of the trade’.
Can’t wait Di, the day is fast approaching and the research and preparation for presentation is well under way. I agree that it is a great opportunity for us as writers to continually expand our knowledge. Exciting times!
Thanks for your comment, Maree – pleased to know you’re finding the research and preparation useful as well. And I agree wholeheartedly, times are definitely exciting.
